Belgium, Battlefield of Europe
Relive 2,000 years of conflict history
Over the centuries, hundreds of small battles and great conflicts have taken place on the territory of today's Belgium, located in the heart of Western Europe, at the crossroads of the Roman and Germanic cultures, a stone's throw from the Anglo-Saxon world. From the Roman conquests to the two world wars, through the Viking invasions, the Battle of the Golden Spurs, the Burgundian expansion and the revolt of the Netherlands, the wars of Louis XIV and Napoleon: Belgium was for 2,000 years the battlefield of Europe.
