Strawberry Museum and Berry Garden, a concentrate of flavours and memories

The Strawberry Museum and Berry Garden invites visitors to discover strawberries in all their forms, through history, gastronomy, folklore, production and trade. Located in the enchanting setting of the Meuse Valley, close to the riverside path and along the tourist route between Namur and Dinant, this unusual place surprises visitors with its richness and accessibility. Here, a universal fruit becomes the guiding thread of a sensory, cultural and deeply human journey.

A colourful museum full of surprises

Behind its apparent simplicity, the museum reveals a rich and highly accessible collection that appeals to all audiences. Many visitors leave with the same reaction: We never imagined there was so much to say about strawberries! The history of the fruit, its culinary uses, its role in folklore and its economic importance are presented through a lively and colourful scenography that encourages visitors to take their time and explore every detail.

From the entrance, the senses are awakened. The scent of strawberries greets visitors, carried by the products available in the shop, such as flavoured teas and even a surprising strawberry perfume. The visit often ends with a small drink tasting, a convivial moment that encourages conversation and pleasantly extends the experience.

A garden as a peaceful haven

Next to the museum, the berry garden offers a welcome breath of fresh air. Designed as a calm and soothing place to stroll, it invites visitors to slow down and enjoy the natural surroundings. Here, you can discover both familiar and lesser-known fruits, sometimes available for tasting, in an atmosphere ideal for wandering and relaxation. The garden becomes a true haven of peace, appreciated by families as well as visitors seeking tranquillity.

A lively place shaped by special events

The museum takes on a special atmosphere during certain moments of the year. The Frais’tival, organised during the open day on the first Sunday of August, transforms the site into a festive gathering with numerous activities. During Halloween, the museum adopts a completely different mood: decorated and immersed in darkness, it welcomes mischievous creatures for an unusual and memorable visit. These events strengthen the emotional bond between the site and its visitors.

Touching and universal stories

The Strawberry Museum is also a place filled with moving stories. One example is a couple from the United States who travelled from Brussels in the middle of winter, in the rain, solely to visit the museum. Afraid it might be closed because of a stubborn door, they were overwhelmed with emotion when they finally entered, the visit lighting up the eyes of a true strawberry enthusiast.

Another story tells of a German family who came to donate an impressive collection of strawberry-themed objects, inherited from a sister who had been an avid collector, filling every corner of her home with items celebrating the fruit. These anecdotes reveal the deep affection strawberries can inspire far beyond borders.

One fruit, countless emotions

The strawberry connects generations. For children, it evokes fruit picking, simple pleasures and sweet snacks. For adults, it often awakens a gentle nostalgia, recalling childhood memories or moments from a past era. This emotional dimension is exactly what the museum seeks to share: transmitting a traditional local heritage while touching visitors’ hearts with sincerity and warmth.

The Strawberry Museum and Berry Garden is an ideal visit for anyone who enjoys unusual places, accessible experiences and authentic stories rooted in local culture.
