Dive into the living history of coal at Blegny-Mine, a unique site in Belgium recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage treasure!

Located between Liège and Maastricht, Blegny-Mine is one of the four genuine coal mines in Europe whose underground galleries are still accessible via the original shaft.

Experience an unforgettable descent: put on your jacket, adjust your helmet, and go down like the miners once did, 30 to 60 meters underground, to discover the fascinating world of coal extraction. The noise of the machines, the heat, the dust, and the solidarity of the Black Faces will immerse you in a moving and unforgettable human adventure.

Back at the surface, follow the complete journey of coal through the sorting and washing installations. Watch the culbuteurs, sieves, hoppers, and cage systems in action and understand the entire process, from raw mineral to ready-for-sale coal. A technical, immersive, and exciting discovery!

* The Mine Museum, located in Puits-Marie (1849), one of Belgium’s oldest mining buildings, retracing eight centuries of mining history.
* The slag heap and its biotope, with an audio guide explaining how nature has reclaimed these industrial landscapes.

The "Blegny-Mine" programme (mine guided tour + mining-museum + slag heap biotope): - weekends and pub. holidays from 14/02 to 15/11 - every day from 27/04 to 7/09. - Additional weekday opening from 16/02 to 27/02 (Carnival holidays), from 6/04 to 17/04 (Easter holidays) and from 19/10 to 6/11 (All Saints' holidays). • Visit of the coalmine only: - weekends from 21/11 to 28/12 - during the Christmas holidays from 21/12 to 30/12 (closed on 24 and 25/12). 2. Superprogramme: "Blegny-Mine" programme + tourist train ride. Arrival recommended before 11.00 and no later than midday : - weekends and public holidays from 4/04 to 15/11 - every day from 27/04 to 8/05 and from 1/07 to 31/08 (Summer holidays) - every Wednesday from 13/05 to 4/09.
