Information

MUMONS, keys to understanding the world

Located in the former Visitandines monastery, right in the heart of Mons, the University of Mons museum is a unique place where visitors come to explore, be surprised, and experience science differently.

A human-scale, welcoming museum where science, history and heritage come together with simplicity and curiosity.

Électrique ! — Current exhibition
In 2026, discover Électrique !, an exhibition that shows how electricity transformed our daily lives — our gestures, our homes, our habits — through everyday objects from the past, familiar or forgotten, reflecting a world in transition.
Created by historians and physicists, the exhibition blends discoveries, stories and simple hands-on experiences that clarify the phenomena without making them complicated.
For all audiences: families, curious visitors, schools.

A crypt full of history
In the monastery crypt, the permanent exhibition tells the story of the place. It’s an intimate space enhanced by an original and playful video mapping that reveals the secrets of this former religious building, later a prison, an archives centre, and now a university museum.
