Museum of Walloon Life, a sensitive immersion into the soul of everyday life
At the Museum of Walloon Life, an entire society unfolds, from the 19th century to the present day, through objects, images, sounds and memories. Located in the historic heart of Liège, the museum offers a journey that is both intimate and abundant, where visitors often recognise gestures, habits and words sometimes those of their grandparents, sometimes their own.
From the moment you enter, the atmosphere surrounds you: wood, warm colours and soft lighting. Visitors step into a true time capsule, rich with a cultural heritage carefully and humanely preserved.
A rich journey that feels surprisingly familiar
The museum route unfolds over two floors and impresses with the quantity and diversity of objects on display. Each room reveals a facet of everyday life in Wallonia: work, leisure, beliefs, celebrations, traditions and lifestyles. Objects that are sometimes unusual, sometimes familiar, recount the past with touching sincerity.
The visit often evokes a feeling of nostalgia, but also curiosity. Visitors pause before an object, smile, remember and compare. The museum does more than display artefacts: it puts them into perspective, linking the past to the present and inviting reflection on what we will pass on to future generations.
Living traditions and puppet theatre
Among the highlights, the puppet theatre holds a special place. A true pillar of popular tradition, it keeps alive a folklore that still resonates in collective memory. The performances, lively and accessible, are often a memorable first encounter for children and a return to childhood for adults.

Situé dans le cadre exceptionnel du couvent des Frères mineurs, en plein centre historique de la Cité Ardente, le Musée de la Vie wallonne s'animera durant tout l'été.

Le Carnaval de Rio s'installe à Liège
Au Musée de la Vie wallonne à Liège, découvrez l'envers du décor du Carnaval de Rio de Janeiro à travers la plus grande collection de costumes cariocas présentée en Europe. Plus d'une cinquantaine de tenues éblouissantes vous plongent dans un univers féérique, des ateliers de couture aux écoles de samba, jusqu'à l'apothéose du grand défilé.
Plus que jamais enraciné dans la culture brésilienne, le carnaval inspire un véritable art de vivre. Comme en Wallonie, le carnaval ne se résume pas à un spectacle : c'est un langage collectif et populaire, joyeux et vibrant, où la communauté tout entière entre en scène.
Oubliez la grisaille de l'hiver et laissez-vous emporter par le rythme, les matières, les couleurs… du Carnaval de Rio !

Cité de la Bière
- Concerts! There will be brass bands, folk music, rock music and acoustic music. Monday (professionals day) will be more jazzy.
- Culinary demos with a cooking coach who will reveal the world of cooking with beer, the best beer and food combinations and handy tips and tricks.
- Beer workshops dedicated to the study of beer, brewing and breweries. An expert will present amazing combinations with the food produce at the fair (chocolate, cheese), different ways of brewing and the perfumes or characteristics of the beers.
- Giant quiz competition. Win numerous prizes: Beer box sets, microbrewery kit, Trivial Pursuit Belgian Beer edition, books about beer, etc.
- Various entertainment and activities, as well as tasting sessions!
The guests of honour this year are the province of Luxembourg and Namur! A fair to be enjoyed without moderation!
