In the heart of Brussels, inside the majestic and fully renovated building of the Stock Exchange (Bourse), the Belgian Beer World Experience invites visitors to discover far more than a drink: a true way of life deeply rooted in Belgian culture. Here, beer is told, experienced and tasted through a playful, immersive and sensory journey designed for visitors of all ages.

From the very first rooms, the visit takes you through the history of Belgian beer, from its origins to its incredible diversity today. You explore the secrets of brewers, the stages of the brewing process, the ingredients, gestures and traditions that have shaped Belgium’s worldwide reputation. Everything is presented in an interactive and engaging environment where learning feels natural and entertaining.

The stories of the great brewing families intertwine with anecdotes, revealing human tales of passion, transmission and innovation. Visitors quickly understand why Belgian beer is much more than a product — it is a living heritage, rich, diverse and deeply tied to national identity.

Beneath the Stock Exchange: discovering an unexpected Brussels

The experience continues underground with access to Bruxella 1238, a fascinating archaeological site located in the cellars of the Stock Exchange, once part of a Franciscan monastery. According to legend, this is where Gambrinus, the mythical king of beer, rests. The site also evokes Margaretha von Waldeck, a historical figure said to have inspired the story of Snow White.

This underground section offers an intriguing moment where history, legend and Brussels heritage meet in an almost timeless atmosphere.

Tasting beer while admiring Brussels

Throughout the visit, a mini tasting accompanies the discovery, leading to one of the highlights of the experience: the rooftop bar The BeerLab. Up there, tasting a beer from a selection of around 150 different options takes on a completely new dimension.

With one of the most beautiful panoramic views over Brussels stretching before you, the city’s rooftops unfold in every direction while the flavours of Belgian brewing reveal themselves, glass in hand.
