A perfect place if you love open nature, discreet romance, the freshness of water and walks that leave a soft, lasting imprint. A visit to savour slowly, with family, as a couple or alone, leaving with a light heart, lulled by the eternal music of the fountains.
At the Water Gardens of Annevoie Castle, nature whispers, sings and soothes. From the very first steps, it becomes clear that this place is different: here, water springs forth without any machinery, exactly as it did more than 260 years ago. A miracle of gentleness and ingenuity that transforms the walk into a deeply sensory experience, guided by the rhythm of fountains, cascades and ponds.
Created in the 18th century, the Gardens of Annevoie are unique in Europe thanks to their entirely natural functioning. Water circulates, rises and falls solely through differences in levels and gravity, offering a living spectacle that is never static. Each fountain surprises, each cascade draws the eye, and each pond invites a pause.
The route reveals a harmonious blend of three garden styles: Italian, English and French, all carried by the constant and soothing presence of water. This diversity creates a varied promenade, sometimes majestic, sometimes intimate, moving from structured settings to more natural scenes, always accompanied by the music of water.
The Water Gardens of Annevoie Castle can be discovered at any age, with family, as a couple or alone. Paths lined with hornbeam hedges, flower beds, the kitchen garden, and the play of light and shade create an ideal setting for wandering. Children find a place of wonder, while adults enjoy the calm, the charm and the feeling of slowing down.
In summer, the constant presence of water brings a welcome freshness. Shaded areas provide pleasant pauses, perfect for extending the visit without ever feeling the heat. Many visitors leave with the same feeling: a deep sense of serenity, as if the place had naturally soothed both body and mind.
Beyond the walk itself, the site also offers educational days, allowing visitors to better understand the history, engineering and botanical richness of the gardens. A playground welcomes younger visitors, while a cafeteria invites guests to extend their break in a green setting. A souvenir shop and a parking area complete the experience, making the visit comfortable and easy.
The Gardens of Annevoie do not seek to impress through grandeur, but through the perfect balance between water, nature and silence. Visitors walk slowly, listening and observing. The gentle sound of water replaces the noise of the world, and each turn reveals a new perspective, a new detail to contemplate.
The Water Gardens of Annevoie Castle are an ideal destination for those who love peaceful places, elegant walks and experiences where one immediately feels at ease.
