Beloeil Castle, owned by the Princes of Ligne, has been located in the middle of its moat in the Hainaut region for eight centuries.

In the 16th century, the de Ligne Family undertook considerable work and began to surround the castle with sumptuous gardens. The residence subsequently adopted a unique style, combining the remains of medieval architecture with classical innovations.

Today, not much remains of the original buildings, as a terrible fire destroyed the house in 1900. A major restoration project followed over a period of six years, following the same original plan but with greater regularity.

Strolling through the Feld-Maréchal's room, the Epinoy and Amblise rooms, the Ambassadors' and Marshals' rooms, you will discover a rich collection of furniture and objets d'art dating from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. You will also be dazzled by the very rich library, which contains no less than 20,000 volumes.

Don't miss a walk in the park either. The park is composed of majestic French gardens. Rigour, harmony and geometry are the watchwords of these exteriors!
