Liege
Liège Province.
The story of life from northern Germanic Europe and southern
Latin Europe. Over the centuries the region, which attracted too
many invaders, was the scene of numerous wars and battles. Liège
Principality – which covered a great deal of what is now Wallonia, was
bursting with riches, today numerous remaining architectural examples
show this, to the wonder of our visitors.
Liège Province also has varied and contrasting landscapes. To the west the fertile Hesbaye plateau and the green
Condroz are separated by the Meuse valley. To the north the « Pays de Herve » with its hedged fields is a Norman
microcosm. To the east the Hautes Fagnes wrap the visitor in mystery. Finally to the south the steep sided valleys of the
Ourthe and Amblève rivers form one of the most beautiful scenes of the Ardennes.
