In 2006 Hasselt acquired a new unique attraction. The Nature and Culture Park stretches out over 15,000 m² with 25 leaf-shaped garden areas full of surprising and beautiful tableaux. Visitors can discover examples of old crafts presented in a fun and modern way. These include weaving willow and rotan, pruning box into topiary, etc. As you wander through the park you will discover a magnificent biodiversity with more than 100 different varieties of box. In the middle of the park, the biggest hand-woven willow basket in the world rises from the ground and from this basket you have stunning panoramic views. And in the cosy pavilion with its garden terrace you can take time out to enjoy a drink and a snack • From April to October you can enjoy a series of non-stop exhibitions by national and international artists. • A new feature in the park are the figures in mosaiculture including a 6-metre high statue of Virga Jesse covered with more than 9000 plants. And visitors can also discover a host of different surprising grass sculptures . This year there is also a unique exhibition featuring gnomes. They include the largest collection in Belgium by the Dutch artist Rien Poortvliet as well as an important collection by the German artists Philipp Griebel and Ottmar Hörl.
