The world's longest continuous underground navigation!
Hidden in the Amblève valley, the Remouchamps Caves delivers its archaeological, geological, mineralogical and prehistoric secrets. These are in the form of numerous tools which prove human occupation dating back 10 000 ans. To-day the Caves still shelter a few inhabitants, for example shell-fish, frogs. Conditions are specially favourable to bats during the winter. In all, 19 species of vertibrateshave been seen during the last 15 years.
The Cave is on two levels and was cut by the well-known RUBICON.
Theupper gallery is at the fossile stage, whereas the lower gallery is active and the Rubicon still runs through it. Each chamber will deliver its secrets and its gems : an expert will explain the formation of the "Dame Blanche ( White Lady)" or the building up of the scale layers which have formed the "Grande Draperie (Long curtains)".
The two galleries come together to form the "Salle de la Cathédrale (Cathedral chamber)" with a total height of around 40 metres. The first part of the visit is on foot and the return is by boat. In a mysterious silence you glide through the meanders of the Rubicon, alongthe world's longest continuous underground navigation. .
The expedition takes 1h15 in all.

From the Big-Bang to the caves of today : many photos, paintings, stories, scale models, tell you the history of the caves. The exhibition ends with educational themes such as pollution, recycling deforestation, water cycle...
