National Genever Museum
National Genever Museum
The story of Belgian genever!

In the middle of Hasselt you will find the National Genever Museum in an old agricultural distillery. The museum shows you the story of Belgian genever, from grain to drink.
Prized possession of the museum is the 19th Century still from a former genever distillery in Géromont-Malmedy in the Walloon region of Belgium. This protected and restored installation is being used today to distil 1000 litres of the museum's own genever every year. In the museum you can follow the authentic distilling process. Shot glasses, genever jars and bottles, posters for and against genever and alcohol, gadgets and other promotional material from the glory days show you the importance of genever for agriculture, the economy and society. Every visit ends in the cosy tasting room with a collection of more than 130 Belgian grain genevers. A lovely tasting completes your visit.
