The hospital Our Lady with the Rose was founded in 1242 and is one of the last examples of a self-sufficient hospital, complete with farm, gardens, ice chamber and cemetery, next to the convent buildings and hospital. It is an example of how hospitals worked during the Middle Ages. This religious hospital is remarkable because the whole complex is well preserved and also because of the diversity of the structures and the rich art, pharmaceutical and medical collections, presented in a unique environment.
This religious hospital in Lessines, the farm and gardens are part of the Monumental heritage of the Walloon region.
