Situated in a superb 18th century mansion, the Famenne Museum takes you from Prehistory to Modern Art. The Merovingian and Carolingian periods are illustrated by a remarkable collection coming from digs at Wellin and Hamoir. The Museum pays hommage to the Maître de Waha, an outstanding and one of the most delightful figures of late Gothic sculpture. Space is given to Famenne and Marche, the geological and historic characteristics, the joys and sorrows of the town and a magnificent model of the City in about 1600. One room is dedicated to the Monument site, a 17th century shrine. Old time trades are also represented.
The Musem alo has a good collection of Modern and Contemporary Art. There is a multi-media room, a bookshop, a library and a photographic collection which offers researchers, students or ethousiasts the tool they need to increase their knowledge.
Conferences, symposiums and workshops are also organised here.
