BELvue museum
BELvue museum

1830… is the year the story of the small land we call Belgium starts. Let this little country reveal itself to you through the ages. You might be surprised! For almost 200 years, Belgium has been changing and evolving. It has been built around successes and failures, revolutions and wars, democracy and kings.

The BELvue museum does not write history. Rather it is history that writes the museum. Historical events come to life through unique documents, extracts from films and unforgettable photos. As visitors make their way through the nine rooms of the permanent collection, the older generation will remember times past and the younger generations will discover historical events. The temporary exhibitions offer a complementary point of view, focusing on a particular perspective, an era or a theme.

So close to the Royal Palace that we can see its gardens, the BELvue is also popular with passing visitors interested in its fascinating building, the incarnation of our collective memories. It is located in the former ‘hôtel de Bellevue’ dating from the eighteenth century which has been beautifully restored. It provides a space where visitors can enjoy a peaceful moment – on the interior terrace in winter and in the garden in summer. The BELvue has a story and wants to share it with you!
